Are You Tired of Trying Everything and Getting Nowhere?
Have you found yourself on a constant quest to be happier, healthier, more loved, less stressed, or just plain better—only to end up back where you started? Maybe you’ve watched endless inspirational videos, listened to the podcasts, seen the therapists, signed up for the courses, read the books and been on the retreats. And all those efforts might be inspiring in the moment, but when the dust settles, you’re still stuck in the same cycle of discontentment or unhappiness. If this sounds familiar, know that you’re not alone.
So many of us who are seeking, or are on the life-improvement path hit this wall. We’re convinced something is wrong with us and our life, and we believe that if we could just fix or have that one thing, everything would finally fall into place. But here’s the truth of the matter: the more you chase happiness, the more it eludes you.
The Trap of Constant Searching
Why doesn’t the endless search work? Because when you’re searching for something you don’t have, you’re reinforcing the belief that you’re lacking it. The discomfort of not having what you want keeps you from feeling happy now. It’s why we’re always striving, yearning, and feeling that gnawing discontent.
As a recovering perfectionist, I’ve been down that road myself. I’d yearn for that next achievement, relationship, or place to live, thinking this would be the one that would make me happy. And when I got it? I’d still feel discontentment, so I'd latch onto another dream and start the chase all over again. It wasn’t freedom; it was an exhausting cycle.
The Problem Isn’t the Dream or Goal—It’s Our Judgement of it
Seeking dreams and having goals are great. They inspire growth, push us forward, help us evolve, and make life exciting. The problem starts when we let our ego step in and judge us for not reaching them fast enough or perfectly enough. Think of little kids taking their first steps. They don’t scold themselves for not being able to walk yet — they’re just thrilled by the miracle of trying.
If health is your goal, when you stop labelling your body as ‘failed' and instead see it as the remarkable, self-healing system it is—always seeking balance, your body will shift into working for you, not against you. We’ve lost our sense of awe in just being. Instead, we judge, criticize, and label our experiences as “not enough” or “not right.”
The Secret to Happiness
So my message for you this month is to remind you; the key to success and happiness is releasing the judgment of not having what you're lacking. Stop worrying about achieving your dreams, being perfect, or worrying what others think.
If you no longer see yourself or your life as flawed, or incomplete, you start to see what’s right. Once you change your focus from 'trying to get somewhere' to 'I'm already here', then life turns into a joyful magical experience.
When you stop seeking happiness, and instead just BE happy, no matter what you perceive as ‘wrong’ in your life, life starts to flow in a direction that is in alignment with your soul. Life starts working for you. Great opportunities will pop up and coincidences will start to happen. Life becomes effortless, because the forcing and resisting of ‘trying’ to get your life right has gone.
Life then just naturally falls into place.
And once your struggles fade, life becomes what you’ve been seeking all along: true peace and happiness.
Choose happiness NOW, because life is simply too short not to!
